Pastors

Sermon Notes

Our gifts should be used to BUILD people up rather than TEAR people down.

[Ephesians 4:11-12] Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. [12] Their responsibility is to equip God's people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ.

You can give a SERMON without having the gift of pastor.

A pastor is like a SHEPHERD of people.

A pastor truly CARES for the people around them.

[1 Peter 5:2] Care for the flock that God has entrusted to you. Watch over it willingly, not grudgingly--not for what you will get out of it, but because you are eager to serve God.

Pastors love to GIVE to others.

[Proverbs 11:25] The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.

There's a big difference between WANTING to help and ACTUALLY helping.

[1 Thessalonians 5:11] So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.

An encourager loves to give COURAGE to others.

[Galatians 6:2] Share each other's burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ.

Sometimes we need to be willing to LISTEN without trying to FIX everything.
