Sin Separates

Sermon Note

We aren’t GOOD people, we are all guilty of sin.

[Romans 3:23] For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard.

None of us can MEASURE up to God's standard.

[Romans 6:23a] For the wages of sin is death...

Spiritual DEATH is us being separated from God.

[1 John 1:8] If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth.

Jesus didn't talk about sin to CONDEMN people but to RESTORE them.

[Matthew 5:20-22, 27-28] "But I warn you--unless your righteousness is better than the righteousness of the teachers of religious law and the Pharisees, you will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven! [21] "You have heard that our ancestors were told, 'You must not murder. If you commit murder, you are subject to judgment.' [22] But I say, if you are even angry with someone, you are subject to judgment! If you call someone an idiot, you are in danger of being brought before the court. And if you curse someone, you are in danger of the fires of hell. ... [27] "You have heard the commandment that says, 'You must not commit adultery.' [28] But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

Jesus came to FORGIVE the sinners.

God loves MESSED up people.

[Romans 3:23-24] For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard. [24] Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins.

Only God can REMOVE our sin.

[1 John 1:9] But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.
