Your Will Be Done

Sermon Notes

[Matthew 6:9-10 NIV] "This, then, is how you should pray: " 'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, [10] your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

We should pray for God's will in every SITUATION that we face.

[James 4:2-3] You want what you don't have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can't get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don't have what you want because you don't ask God for it. [3] And even when you ask, you don't get it because your motives are all wrong--you want only what will give you pleasure.

God knows our MOTIVES and cannot be MANIPULATED.

[Proverbs 19:21] You can make many plans, but the LORD's purpose will prevail.

You may think your will is GOOD but God's plan is always BETTER.

When you begin to SEEK God's will He will DIRECT you.

[Proverbs 3:5-6] Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. [6] Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.

God always ANSWERS prayers that line up with His will.

[1 John 5:14-15 NIV] This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. [15] And if we know that he hears us--whatever we ask--we know that we have what we asked of him.

“Your will be done” is a statement of SURRENDER.

[Psalm 37:4 NLT] Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you your heart's desires.

If we DELIGHT in Him we will have the right DESIRES.
