Rescued from Fear

Sermon Notes

Fear is the UNINVITED guest in our minds.

[Psalm 55:2-5] Please listen and answer me, for I am overwhelmed by my troubles. [3] My enemies shout at me, making loud and wicked threats. They bring trouble on me and angrily hunt me down. [4] My heart pounds in my chest. The terror of death assaults me. [5] Fear and trembling overwhelm me, and I can't stop shaking.

Dealing with ANXIETY doesn't mean you're WEAK.

[Psalm 34:4] I prayed to the LORD, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears.

The most powerful attacks of the devil are not PHYSICAL, but MENTAL.

[Luke 22:44] He prayed more fervently, and he was in such agony of spirit that his sweat fell to the ground like great drops of blood.

God is our source of STRENGTH & COURAGE.

[Isaiah 41:10] Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.

Freedom is found in God's PRESENCE.

[2 Timothy 1:7 CSB] For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but one of power, love, and sound judgment.

God's Spirit gives us POWER to overcome!

[Isaiah 43:2 CSB] "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and the rivers will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, and the flame will not burn you.

We can't allow fear and anxiety to become the LORD of our LIFE.

[Philippians 4:6-8] Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. [7] Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. [8] And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts* on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
