Think About It

Sermon Note

[Psalm 1:1-3] Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. [2] But they delight in the law of the LORD, meditating on it day and night. [3] They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.

We don't meditate to EMPTY our thoughts; we do it to fill our thoughts with SCRIPTURE.

[Joshua 1:7-8] Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do. [8] Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.

God is promising SUCCESS and PROSPERITY for those who meditate on Scripture.

Meditation is what transforms KNOWLEDGE into WISDOM.

[Isaiah 26:3] You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!

The path to PEACE begins with fixing your THOUGHTS on God.

What you meditate on is what FEEDS you.

[Psalm 119:11, 14-15] I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. ... [14] I have rejoiced in your laws as much as in riches. [15] I will study your commandments and reflect on your ways.

Memorizing Scripture gives STRENGTH to your soul.

[Hebrews 4:12] For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.

It's not what you PREACH but what you PRACTICE that matters.
