Martha

Sermon Notes

[Luke 10:38-40 ESV] Now as they went on their way, Jesus entered a village. And a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house. [39] And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet and listened to his teaching. [40] But Martha was distracted with much serving.

It is POSSIBLE to be distracted by GOOD things.

[Luke 10:40 ESV] But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, "Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me."

[Luke 10:41-42 ESV] But the Lord answered her, "Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, [42] but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her."

Martha’s BUSYNESS was UNNECESSARY activity she put on herself.

[Hebrews 12:5-6] And have you forgotten the encouraging words God spoke to you as his children? He said, "My child, don't make light of the LORD's discipline, and don't give up when he corrects you. [6] For the LORD disciplines those he loves, and he punishes each one he accepts as his child."

I should consider what is important to GOD over what is important to ME.

[Matthew 5:48] But you are to be perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect.

The MOST important thing is spending TIME with Jesus.

I might have to LET GO of some things to make time for the NECESSARY thing.
