Unexpected Hope

Sermon Notes

Hope has a way of turning up when we need it the MOST.

[Matthew 4:16] the people who sat in darkness have seen a great light. And for those who lived in the land where death casts its shadow, a light has shined."

Hope often shows up when we LEAST EXPECT it.

We GIVE UP because we lose hope.

[Psalm 39:7] And so, Lord, where do I put my hope? My only hope is in you.

Lasting hope is only found in JESUS.

[1 Timothy 1:1] This letter is from Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus, appointed by the command of God our Savior and Christ Jesus, who gives us hope.

Real hope is HOPING when things seem HOPELESS.

[Colossians 1:27 NIV]  To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

Hope is the certainty we have that God is GOOD.

[Psalm 20:7 NIV] Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.

God will give us hope in middle of DIFFICULTY.

[Matthew 11:28] Then Jesus said, "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.

You lose hope when you put it in the WRONG places.

[Hebrews 10:23] Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.
