I’ll Do It My Way

Sermon Note

Patience is doing something DIFFICULT for a long period of time.

[Genesis 12:1-4] The LORD had said to Abram, "Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father's family, and go to the land that I will show you. [2] I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. [3] I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you." [4] So Abram departed as the LORD had instructed, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he left Haran.

God is never in a HURRY.

[Galatians 4:22-23] The Scriptures say that Abraham had two sons, one from his slave wife and one from his freeborn wife. [23] The son of the slave wife was born in a human attempt to bring about the fulfillment of God's promise. But the son of the freeborn wife was born as God's own fulfillment of his promise.

Patience and FAITH go hand in hand.

[Hebrews 6:12 NIV] We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.

God is using your JOURNEY to shape you.

God is shaping you while you are WAITING.

[Romans 8:25] But if we look forward to something we don't yet have, we must wait patiently and confidently.

We may be concerned with an OUTCOME but God is concerned with CHARACTER.

[Philippians 1:6] And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.
