Changing Seasons

Sermon Notes

[Ecclesiastes 3:1] For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.

Life isn't random CHAOS, it's a series of SEASONS.

[Ecclesiastes 3:2-8] A time to be born and a time to die. A time to plant and a time to harvest. [3] A time to kill and a time to heal. A time to tear down and a time to build up. [4] A time to cry and a time to laugh. A time to grieve and a time to dance. [5] A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones. A time to embrace and a time to turn away. [6] A time to search and a time to quit searching. A time to keep and a time to throw away. [7] A time to tear and a time to mend. A time to be quiet and a time to speak. [8] A time to love and a time to hate. A time for war and a time for peace.

Every season has a PURPOSE.

We can't control what HAPPENS to us but we can control how we RESPOND.

[Ecclesiastes 3:11] Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God's work from beginning to end.

Our goal isn't to CONTROL the season but to TRUST God in it.

[Psalm 31:14-15] But I am trusting you, O LORD, saying, "You are my God!" [15] My future is in your hands. Rescue me from those who hunt me down relentlessly.

God can turn our TOUGHEST seasons into our greatest TEACHERS.

[Psalm 62:5-6] Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him. [6] He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will not be shaken.

We need to yield to God's TIMING

[John 16:33] I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world."
