Better Together

Sermon Note

[Hebrews 10:24-25] Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. [25] And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.

Church isn't something you ATTEND, it's something you ARE.

Following Jesus is not a SOLO activity.

[John 13:34-35] So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. [35] Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples."

Following Jesus should be our primary IDENTITY.

[Galatians 3:26-28] For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus. [27] And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes. [28] There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus.

You are IMPORTANT to the community of God.

[John 1:12] But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.

You cannot adequately live the Christian life without other BELIEVERS.

[Ecclesiastes 4:9-12] Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. [10] If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. [11] Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone? [12] A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.

There's a big difference between GOING to church and BEING the church.

It's time to get off the SIDELINES and get involved!

[Jeremiah 17:8] They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.
