The First Step

Sermon Note

You are one SMALL STEP away from changing your life.

[Zechariah 4:6-10 CSB] So he answered me, "This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: 'Not by strength or by might, but by my Spirit,' says the LORD of Armies. [7] "'What are you, great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become a plain. And he will bring out the capstone accompanied by shouts of: Grace, grace to it! '" [8] Then the word of the LORD came to me: [9] "Zerubbabel's hands have laid the foundation of this house, and his hands will complete it. Then you will know that the LORD of Armies has sent me to you. [10] "For who despises the day of small things? These seven eyes of the LORD, which scan throughout the whole earth, will rejoice when they see the ceremonial stone in Zerubbabel's hand."

God loves to use the small THINGS to do BIG things.

[Psalm 118:22-23] The stone that the builders rejected has now become the cornerstone. [23] This is the LORD's doing, and it is wonderful to see.

It's time to take a small step and put GOD FIRST.

[Matthew 6:33 NIV] But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Never underestimate the power of CONSISTENT small steps taken in the same DIRECTION.

[Psalm 119:105] Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.

God specializes in taking the small things and making them MIGHTY.

[1 Timothy 4:8-10] "Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come." [9] This is a trustworthy saying, and everyone should accept it. [10] This is why we work hard and continue to struggle, for our hope is in the living God, who is the Savior of all people and particularly of all believers.
