Being Followed

Sermon Notes

[Psalm 23:1-6 ESV] The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. [2] He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. [3] He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. [4] Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. [5] You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. [6] Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

Today may not be GOOD but God is always GOOD.

[Psalm 27:11-13] Teach me how to live, O LORD. Lead me along the right path, for my enemies are waiting for me. [12] Do not let me fall into their hands. For they accuse me of things I've never done; with every breath they threaten me with violence. [13] Yet I am confident I will see the LORD's goodness while I am here in the land of the living.

Sometimes God's goodness takes LONGER than we think.

[Romans 8:28] And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

Even if we CAN'T SEE God's goodness, He is still good.

[Lamentations 3:22-23] The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. [23] Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.

There is nothing that we do can INCREASE or DECREASE God's love.

[1 Chronicles 16:34 NKJV] Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.

God's goodness and mercy doesn't DISAPPEAR in uncertain times.

[John 14:2-3 NKJV] "In My Father's house are many mansions; if [it were] not [so], I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. [3] "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, [there] you may be also.
