Double-Minded

Sermon Notes

A double-minded person is RESTLESS in their thoughts, actions and behaviors.

[James 1:5 NIV] If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.

Wisdom is the ability to apply KNOWLEDGE.

[James 1:6 NIV] But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.

Do you believe that God CAN and WILL move on your behalf?

[James 1:7-8 NIV] That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. [8] Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.

We can't EXPECT anything from God if we aren't walking in faith.

Double-mindedness produces INSTABILITY.

It's normal to have DOUBT, but we can't let it TAKE over.

[Hebrews 11:6] And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.

You can't have a solid RELATIONSHIP without trust.

[Matthew 6:24] "No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

We need to let go of the things PULLING us away from God?

[1 Kings 18:21] Then Elijah stood in front of them and said, "How much longer will you waver, hobbling between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow him! But if Baal is God, then follow him!" But the people were completely silent.
