In Conflict

Sermon Notes

How you handle conflict MATTERS.

[Proverbs 29:11 NIV] Fools give full vent to their rage, but the wise bring calm in the end.

Don't allow conflict to DESTABILIZE your life.

[Proverbs 15:1 NIV] A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

We can either FAN the flames of conflict or we can EXTINGUISH them.

The more I raise my VOICE the more I lower my INTELLIGENCE.

[Luke 6:27-30] "But to you who are willing to listen, I say, love your enemies! Do good to those who hate you. [28] Bless those who curse you. Pray for those who hurt you. [29] If someone slaps you on one cheek, offer the other cheek also. If someone demands your coat, offer your shirt also. [30] Give to anyone who asks; and when things are taken away from you, don't try to get them back.

Jesus wants you to give up your right to REVENGE

[Romans 12:17-19] Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. [18] Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone. [19] Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say, “I will take revenge; I will pay them back,” says the Lord.

God want us to respond to conflict with GRACE.

[Colossians 3:13-14] Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. [14] Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony.

We need to be the ones who take the INITIATIVE to resolve conflict.
