Two or More

Sermon Note

[Matthew 18:20 CSB] "For where two or three are gathered together in my name, I am there among them."

In order to understand a Bible verse you must read the verses BEFORE and AFTER it.

[Matthew 18:15-20 CSB] "If your brother sins against you, go and rebuke him in private. If he listens to you, you have won your brother. [16] "But if he won't listen, take one or two others with you, so that by the testimony of two or three witnesses every fact may be established. [17] "If he doesn't pay attention to them, tell the church. If he doesn't pay attention even to the church, let him be like a Gentile and a tax collector to you. [18] "Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will have been loosed in heaven. [19] "Again, truly I tell you, if two of you on earth agree about any matter that you pray for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. [20] "For where two or three are gathered together in my name, I am there among them."

We point out sin to bring RESTORATION not condemnation.

The omnipresence of God assures us that He is WITH us even when we're ALONE.

[Proverbs 15:3 NLT] The LORD is watching everywhere, keeping his eye on both the evil and the good.

There is nothing that is HIDDEN from God.

[Psalm 139:7-10 NLT] I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence! [8] If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I go down to the grave, you are there. [9] If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans, [10] even there your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me.

[Jonah 1:3 NLT] But Jonah got up and went in the opposite direction to get away from the LORD. He went down to the port of Joppa, where he found a ship leaving for Tarshish. He bought a ticket and went on board, hoping to escape from the LORD by sailing to Tarshish.

There is nowhere you can go that REMOVES you from God's presence.

[Psalm 46:1 NIV] God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

When you're in trouble God is only a PRAYER away.

God is here even if you can't SENSE His presence.

[Acts 17:27 NLT] "His purpose was for the nations to seek after God and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him--though he is not far from any one of us.
