Sermon Notes
We should use our gifts to show love to PEOPLE and POINT them closer to God.
[Ephesians 4:11-12] Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. [12] Their responsibility is to equip God's people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ.
Teachers have the ability to COMMUNICATE God's Word in a RELEVANT way.
[1 Corinthians 8:1c-2] But while knowledge makes us feel important, it is love that strengthens the church. [2] Anyone who claims to know all the answers doesn't really know very much.
Don't try to impress people with your KNOWLEDGE.
Always STRIVE to learn more about the BIBLE.
[James 1:22-23] But don't just listen to God's word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. [23] For if you listen to the word and don't obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror.
Teachers have a desire to inspire APPLICATION and life CHANGE.
[2 Timothy 2:15] Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth.
In order to be a teacher, you have to be a LEARNER.
[2 Timothy 4:2] Preach the word of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching.
