Hope for the Future

Sermon Note

The world can't live without HOPE.

[Romans 15:13] I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.

You can live with hope or you can live with FEAR.

[Romans 8:24-25] We were given this hope when we were saved. (If we already have something, we don't need to hope for it. [25] But if we look forward to something we don't yet have, we must wait patiently and confidently.)

Hope always requires PATIENCE.

[Matthew 1:19-21] Joseph, her fiancé, was a good man and did not want to disgrace her publicly, so he decided to break the engagement quietly. [20] As he considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. "Joseph, son of David," the angel said, "do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife. For the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit. [21] And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins."

We can have hope even when our CIRCUMSTANCES don't change.

Christmas reminds us that we can have hope in the HARD TIMES.

[Colossians 1:27 NIV] To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

My hope is in SOMEONE not SOMETHING.

[John 3:16-17 NLT] [16] "For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. [17] God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.
