Moses the Murderer
Sermon Note
[Exodus 2:9-10] "Take this baby and nurse him for me," the princess told the baby's mother. "I will pay you for your help." So the woman took her baby home and nursed him. [10] Later, when the boy was older, his mother brought him back to Pharaoh's daughter, who adopted him as her own son. The princess named him Moses, for she explained, "I lifted him out of the water."
God can use even the most FLAWED person for His glory.
[Exodus 3:1-5] One day Moses was tending the flock of his father-in-law, Jethro, the priest of Midian. He led the flock far into the wilderness and came to Sinai, the mountain of God. [2] There the angel of the LORD appeared to him in a blazing fire from the middle of a bush. Moses stared in amazement. Though the bush was engulfed in flames, it didn't burn up. [3] "This is amazing," Moses said to himself. "Why isn't that bush burning up? I must go see it." [4] When the LORD saw Moses coming to take a closer look, God called to him from the middle of the bush, "Moses! Moses!" "Here I am!" Moses replied. [5] "Do not come any closer," the LORD warned. "Take off your sandals, for you are standing on holy ground.
No matter how FAR you've gone, God is STILL there.
[Exodus 3:11] But Moses protested to God, "Who am I to appear before Pharaoh? Who am I to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt?"
God isn’t looking for ABILITY; He’s looking for AVAILABILITY.
[1 Corinthians 1:26-29] Remember, dear brothers and sisters, that few of you were wise in the world's eyes or powerful or wealthy when God called you. [27] Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful. [28] God chose things despised by the world, things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important. [29] As a result, no one can ever boast in the presence of God.
God uses IMPERFECT people.
Your past MISTAKES don't define your FUTURE.
[2 Corinthians 12:9] Each time he said, "My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness." So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.
Our WEAKNESS allows God's STRENGTH to shine.
