Saved To Serve
Sermon Note
God has made you with a PURPOSE.
[Acts 9:36-42 NIV] In Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha (in Greek her name is Dorcas); she was always doing good and helping the poor.
A DISCIPLE is someone who is determined to be like their TEACHER.
[Galatians 6:10] Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone--especially to those in the family of faith.
We need to SPEAK less and DO more.
[Acts 9:37-42 NIV] About that time she became sick and died, and her body was washed and placed in an upstairs room. [38] Lydda was near Joppa; so when the disciples heard that Peter was in Lydda, they sent two men to him and urged him, "Please come at once!"** [39] Peter went with them, and when he arrived he was taken upstairs to the room. All the widows stood around him, crying and showing him the robes and other clothing that Dorcas had made while she was still with them.
God is honored when we live a life that IMPACTS others.
[Acts 9:40-42 NIV] Peter sent them all out of the room; then he got down on his knees and prayed. Turning toward the dead woman, he said, "Tabitha, get up." She opened her eyes, and seeing Peter she sat up. [41] He took her by the hand and helped her to her feet. Then he called for the believers, especially the widows, and presented her to them alive. [42] This became known all over Joppa, and many people believed in the Lord.
We have been SAVED so that we can SERVE.
[James 2:14-17] What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don't show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone? [15] Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, [16] and you say, "Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well"--but then you don't give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do? [17] So you see, faith by itself isn't enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.
When your faith is ALIVE you will always look to SERVE others.
[Hebrews 10:38a] And my righteous ones will live by faith.
