Patience Through Wandering
Sermon Note
Many times, when you are going through difficulty, greater difficulty will come before DELIVERANCE.
[Exodus 3:8 NIV] I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey
[Exodus 6:6-8] I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will deliver you from slavery to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and great acts of judgment. [7] I will take you to be my people and I will be your God, and you shall know that I am the LORD your God, who had brought you out from under the burden of the Egyptians. [8] I will bring you into the land that I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”
When you’re WAITING, God is working to set things up for your victory and his Glory!
[Numbers 13:26-33 NIV] They came back to Moses and Aaron and the whole Israelite community at Kadesh in the Desert of Paran. There they reported to them and to the whole assembly and showed them the fruit of the land. [27] They gave Moses this account: “We went into the land to which you sent us, and it does flow with milk and honey! Here is its fruit. [28] But the people who live there are powerful, and the cities are fortified and very large. We even saw descendants of Anak there. [29] The Amalekites live in the Negev; the Hittites, Jebusites and Amorites live in the hill country; and the Canaanites live near the sea and along the Jordan.” [30] Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, “We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it.” [31] But the men who had gone up with him said, “We can’t attack those people; they are stronger than we are.” [32] And they spread among the Israelites a bad report about the land they had explored. They said, “The land we explored devours those living in it. All the people we saw there are of great size. [33] We saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.”
[Numbers 14:2-4 NIV] All the Israelites grumbled against Moses and Aaron, and the whole assembly said to them, “If only we had died in Egypt! Or in this wilderness! [3] Why is the Lord bringing us to this land only to let us fall by the sword? Our wives and children will be taken as plunder. Wouldn’t it be better for us to go back to Egypt?” [4] And they said to each other, “We should choose a leader and go back to Egypt.”
[Numbers: 7-9 NIV] ”The land we passed through and explored is exceedingly good. [8] If the Lord is pleased with us, he will lead us into that land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and will give it to us. [9] Only do not rebel against the Lord. And do not be afraid of the people of the land, because we will devour them. Their protection is gone, but the Lord is with us. Do not be afraid of them.”
1) Moses FEARED God
2) Moses was HUMBLE
3) Moses TRUSTED God
4) Moses had PATIENCE in God
[Exodus 19:3-6 NIV] Moses went up to God, and the LORD called to him from the mountain, “This is what you are to tell the house of Jacob and explain to the sons of Israel: [4] ‘You have seen for yourselves what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to Myself. [5] Now if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, you will be My treasured possession out of all the nations—for the whole earth is Mine. [6] And unto Me you shall be a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words that you are to speak to the Israelites.”
[Deuteronomy 29:5] During the forty years that I led you through the wilderness, your clothes did not wear out, nor did the sandals on your feet.
Patience is trusting that God will WORK while He makes you trust Him more while He WORKS on you while you wait for Him to WORK.
[James 1:2-4 NKJV] My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, [3] knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. [4] But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.
