Rebel Jesus
Sermon Notes
Jesus was born to RAZE Hell.
Raze: to completely DESTROY.
[Luke 2:7] She gave birth to her first child, a son. She wrapped him snugly in strips of cloth and laid him in a manger, because there was no lodging available for them.
Living for God means living AGAINST the grain.
[Mark 3:1-6] Jesus went into the synagogue again and noticed a man with a deformed hand. [2] Since it was the Sabbath, Jesus' enemies watched him closely. If he healed the man's hand, they planned to accuse him of working on the Sabbath. [3] Jesus said to the man with the deformed hand, "Come and stand in front of everyone." [4] Then he turned to his critics and asked, "Does the law permit good deeds on the Sabbath, or is it a day for doing evil? Is this a day to save life or to destroy it?" But they wouldn't answer him. [5] He looked around at them angrily and was deeply saddened by their hard hearts. Then he said to the man, "Hold out your hand." So the man held out his hand, and it was restored! [6] At once the Pharisees went away and met with the supporters of Herod to plot how to kill Jesus.
Jesus loves those that society REJECTS.
[John 1:4-5] The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. [5] The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.
Jesus came to bring LIGHT into the DARKNESS.
[1 John 3:8] But when people keep on sinning, it shows that they belong to the devil, who has been sinning since the beginning. But the Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil.
Jesus frees us from BONDAGE, offering HOPE and a new life.
[Luke 4:18-19] "The Spirit of the LORD is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, [19] and that the time of the LORD's favor has come."
Jesus came to RESTORE our BROKEN relationship with God.
