The Mustard Seed

Sermon Notes

There is great POTENTIAL within things that seem insignificant. dormant

[Matthew 13:31-32] Here is another illustration Jesus used: "The Kingdom of Heaven is like a mustard seed planted in a field. [32] It is the smallest of all seeds, but it becomes the largest of garden plants; it grows into a tree, and birds come and make nests in its branches."

God can use even the smallest acts of FAITH to bring about GREAT things.

[Zechariah 4:10a] Do not despise these small beginnings, for the LORD rejoices to see the work begin...

Keep moving forward when the growth process seems SLOW and UNCOMFORTABLE.

Lasting growth always requires PATIENCE.

[1 Corinthians 3:6-9] I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow. [7] It's not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What's important is that God makes the seed grow. [8] The one who plants and the one who waters work together with the same purpose. And both will be rewarded for their own hard work. [9] For we are both God's workers. And you are God's field. You are God's building.

We need to NURTURE the seeds of our faith.

My small actions can bring HELP to someone in need.

[Matthew 17:20] "You don't have enough faith," Jesus told them. "I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it would move. Nothing would be impossible."
