Alone Time
Sermon Notes
Solitude is pulling away from things to SPEND TIME with God.
[Psalm 16:11 ESV] You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
Loneliness bring EMPTINESS but solitude brings FULFILLMENT.
We need to intentionally combat HURRY, busyness and DISTRACTIONS.
[Mark 6:30-32] The apostles returned to Jesus from their ministry tour and told him all they had done and taught. [31] Then Jesus said, "Let's go off by ourselves to a quiet place and rest awhile." He said this because there were so many people coming and going that Jesus and his apostles didn't even have time to eat. [32] So they left by boat for a quiet place, where they could be alone.
Solitude is intentional ISOLATION for a SPIRITUAL purpose.
Solitude enables us to sense the PRESENCE of God.
[Psalm 62:5-6] Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him. [6] He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will not be shaken.
God’s resources are CLOSER than we think.
[Exodus 14:13-14 ESV] And Moses said to the people, “Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will work for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again. [14] The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.”
God created you because He wants to have a RELATIONSHIP with you.
[Acts 3:19-20] Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away. [20] Then times of refreshment will come from the presence of the Lord, and he will again send you Jesus, your appointed Messiah.
