Approval Addiction
Sermon Notes
When our lives are UNSTABLE it allows the enemy to ATTACK.
[Psalm 16:7-9] I will bless the LORD who guides me; even at night my heart instructs me. [8] I know the LORD is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me. [9] No wonder my heart is glad, and I rejoice. My body rests in safety.
Constantly seeking APPROVAL from others will make us unstable.
You weren't designed to please EVERYONE.
[Galatians 1:10] Obviously, I'm not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ's servant.
I will ALWAYS be unstable if I seek the approval of people.
Being obsessed with what people think is the fastest way to forget what GOD THINKS.
[Proverbs 29:25] Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the LORD means safety.
Living for God's approval is the CURE for trying to always please people.
[John 12:37, 42-43] But despite all the miraculous signs Jesus had done, most of the people still did not believe in him. [42] Many people did believe in him, however, including some of the Jewish leaders. But they wouldn't admit it for fear that the Pharisees would expel them from the synagogue. [43] For they loved human praise more than the praise of God.
Being obsessed with what people THINK about you is the fastest way to FORGET what God thinks about you.
[Psalm 118:6-9] The LORD is for me, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me? [7] Yes, the LORD is for me; he will help me. I will look in triumph at those who hate me. [8] It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in people. [9] It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in princes.
When I have God's approval I don't need ANYONE else's.
