God-Sized Dream
Sermon Notes
It takes faith to see our GOD-DREAMS come true.
[Hebrews 11:1] Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.
God wants us to give us BIG DREAMS.
The SIZE of dream isn't what matters, it's WHO gave you dream.
A dream from God points to something GREATER than yourself.
[Genesis 37:5-11] One night Joseph had a dream, and when he told his brothers about it, they hated him more than ever. [6] "Listen to this dream," he said. [7] "We were out in the field, tying up bundles of grain. Suddenly my bundle stood up, and your bundles all gathered around and bowed low before mine!" [8] His brothers responded, "So you think you will be our king, do you? Do you actually think you will reign over us?" And they hated him all the more because of his dreams and the way he talked about them. [9] Soon Joseph had another dream, and again he told his brothers about it. "Listen, I have had another dream," he said. "The sun, moon, and eleven stars bowed low before me!" [10] This time he told the dream to his father as well as to his brothers, but his father scolded him. "What kind of dream is that?" he asked. "Will your mother and I and your brothers actually come and bow to the ground before you?" [11] But while his brothers were jealous of Joseph, his father wondered what the dreams meant.
The dreams that God gives are for the benefit of OTHERS.
[John 3:30] He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less.
Our dreams will often come as PROBLEMS we are called to fix.
[Exodus 2:11] Many years later, when Moses had grown up, he went out to visit his own people, the Hebrews, and he saw how hard they were forced to work. During his visit, he saw an Egyptian beating one of his fellow Hebrews.
The FULFILLMENT of the dream isn't in our HANDS.
Ephesians 3:20 Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.
